Dear Dundee Families,
Click here for information about upcoming changes in parking availability on Adams and Ypsilanti Streets.
Early in the school year, our Village Police Department reached out to our district to consider ways to reduce traffic congestion around our middle and elementary school buildings. Plans are in place to add a traffic loop behind the buildings. We anticipate that the traffic loop will be completed in time for the 24-25 school year.
The construction of our new elementary school wing has reduced the number of parking spaces available to our teaching staff. The elimination of parking in the back of the elementary building has added to the congestion. In working with the Village Police Department, we have developed a plan that will reduce some of the congestion. The plan entails having our buses drop off and pick up the middle and elementary school students at the Adam and Ypsilanti Street curbs. Dropping off and picking up students on Adams and Ypsilanti Street will open the parking lot north of the Middle School Gymnasium for our elementary staff.
In working with Village Officials, new signs will be posted along Adam (West of the elementary main entrance to the corner of Ypsilanti St.) and Ypsilanti (From the corner of Adams to Viking Dr.). The new signs will designate that only busses may park on the school side of Adam and Ypsilanti Streets in the morning from 6:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. The parking spaces are also restricted to busses only from 2 pm to 4 pm in the afternoons. These times are only in effect on days that school is in session. We are anticipating that the new signs will be installed on Monday, October 23rd and enforcement will go into effect immediately after the signs are in place.
