Greetings Viking Nation,

As we gear up for the new school year, I'm thrilled to introduce the Elementary/Middle School traffic loop that will be in place. This innovative initiative, a crucial part of the 2022 Bond, is designed to ease congestion on Adams and Ypsilanti Streets and create a more efficient and safer environment for our students. The new ONE-WAY traffic loop, with entry on Ypsilanti St. and exit on Dunham St., is a significant step towards a smoother student dropoff/pick-up. Here is a detailed map of our new traffic flow operation.

What you can expect at each building:

High School:  The bus drop-off and pick-up area for high school students will be along the sidewalk of the high school’s south parking lot. The parent pick-up and drop-off area will be at the southwestern end of the football/track parking lot, a change from last year.  Here is a detailed map of the high school’s designated areas for bus and parent drop-off and pick-up locations.

Middle School:  The bus drop-off and pick-up area for middle school students will be the sidewalk along the school side of Ypsilanti St., extending from the middle school gymnasium parking lot south to Adams St.  Parents vehicles will not be allowed to park/stand on the school side of Ypsilanti St. an hour before school starts and an hour before school is dismissed.  The middle school will have two areas where parents can drop off or pick up their students. The first is utilizing the new traffic loop.  Because of their age, we will also allow middle school students to be picked up or dropped off at the high school’s south parking lot.  For our middle schooler’s safety, we insist the students use the crosswalk at the corner of Viking and Ypsilanti St., where a crossing guard will be stationed.

Elementary School: The bus drop-off and pick-up area for elementary school students will be the sidewalk along the school side of Ypsilanti St., extending from the middle school gymnasium parking lot south to Adams St.  Parents vehicles will not be allowed to park/stand on the school side of Ypsilanti St. an hour before school starts and an hour before school is dismissed. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work diligently to make our schools safer places for students. Your understanding and support are crucial as we implement these changes. Rest assured, safety is our top priority, and these adjustments are made with the utmost care and consideration for our students.
