Stone soup is a soup based on the folk story "Stone Soup". It is a story in which hungry strangers convince people of a town to share a small amount of their food in order to make a meal that everyone enjoys! It represents sharing and caring. To symbolize this, our 5th grade students brought items to their classroom to prepare and share. The soup simmered throughout the day and was then enjoyed, while sharing friendship!

Our first marking period reward for qualifying 5th and 6th graders was today. Students traveled to the Huntington Center to watch the Walleye game. The game ended in a 5-5 tie, but it's safe to say everyone had a great time! We couldn't have asked for our kids to behave any better than they did. We are proud of them and thankful to have such amazing kids in DUNDEE!

Dundee Community, Early in the school year, our Village Police Department reached out to our district to consider ways to reduce traffic congestion around our middle and elementary school buildings. Plans are in place to add a traffic loop behind the buildings. We anticipate that the traffic loop will be completed in time for the 24-25 school year. The construction of our new elementary school wing has reduced the number of parking spaces available to our teaching staff. The elimination of parking in the back of the elementary building has added to the congestion. In working with the Village Police Department, we have developed a plan that will reduce some of the congestion. The plan entails having our buses drop off and pick up the middle and elementary school students at the Adams and Ypsilanti Street curbs. Dropping off and picking up students on Adams and Ypsilanti Street will open the parking lot north of the Middle School Gymnasium for our elementary staff. In working with Village Officials, new signs will be posted along Adams (West of the elementary main entrance to the corner of Ypsilanti St.) and Ypsilanti (From the corner of Adams to Viking Dr.). The new signs will designate that only busses may park on the school side of Adams and Ypsilanti Streets in the morning from 6:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. The parking spaces are also restricted to busses only from 2 pm to 4 pm in the afternoons. These times are only in effect on days that school is in session. We are anticipating that the new signs will be installed on Monday, October 23rd and enforcement will go into effect immediately after the signs are in place. Dundee Community Schools
Dundee Community, Effective immediately, we will be implementing two new policies in an attempt to increase the safety and security for everyone at our home varsity football games. The safety and well-being of our fans and attendees are of utmost importance to us, and these policies are to ensure everyone has an enjoyable and secure experience. Footballs, volleyballs, basketballs, etc. are no longer permitted into the facility. Allowing such items inside the venue can pose potential safety risks. This will help us maintain a safer and more controlled environment for all fans. Children aged 13 and under are to be accompanied by an adult upon entering the facility. This policy is in line with best practices for ensuring the safety and supervision of children, especially in large and busy venues. We believe this will help create a more secure environment for families attending our games. These policies are effective immediately. We kindly ask for your cooperation and understanding as we work together to make our games a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Thank you for being a part of our athletic community and we can’t wait to see you Friday as we host Ida for Senior Night! Go Vikings!

Ava Cousino was recognized on Monday at the DCS Board of Education meeting for receiving a first-place, Blue Rosette Ribbon for her Clay Mask titled, “Introvert”. This ribbon represents Best of Show, in 8th grade for Monroe County. The mask was created to represent an emotion and was accompanied by a personally written Haiku. Great job, Ava!

Transportation Update: The district will need to implement Auxiliary Run A this afternoon, which impacts drop-off times for bus 25 students. The plan minimally impacts all other buses.
